Youth At St. James

Sunday School (September through May) Currently on break

On Sunday September 18 we will Commission our Sunday School Teachers and Students for the coming year.  Sunday School will begin the following Sunday, September 25th at 10:00 AM.  This year's curriculum, Living the Good News,  is lectionary based allowing our students and their parents the opportunity to share more fully in the learning/formation experience.  Together the youth, teachers and parents will discover many ways in which our individual story link to the larger Story, the story of God's extravagant and embracing love for all people. Each week the youth will be drafting a series of prayers  which will be used as the Prayers of the People on the 2nd Sunday of the month.   Sunday School begins at 10 AM downstairs in our undercroft.  The children join the liturgy at the Peace so all are present for the Celebration of the Eucharist (Holy Communion).

Nursery Care is available in the undercroft during the 10 AM service to all children infant - kindergarten.

Family/Youth Sundays - Currently on break

The Parish of St. James sets aside the 10 AM Holy Eucharist service on the 2nd Sunday of each month (September - May) to focus on our children and youth.

At these services the children are present for the entire liturgy and are included more fully into our liturgy by serving as acolytes and readers.

There is an interactive Childrens' Sermon where Fr. Scott, the children and the congregation have a discussion about what it means to be a Christian in today's world.

The children, and anyone else who wishes, are also invited to gather around the altar during the Prayer of Consecration.
