Camp Adventure Thanks - Thanks to all those who served the Camp Adventure Children this summer; Leroy, Nancy, Judy W. Vivian, Sue, Alma and Jo and Sandy. They ate good, nutritious lunches during summer vacation. Thanks also to those who contributed deposit cans and bottles which supported our endeavor. New Matching Grant for Music Program - Vivian Lacy has graciously offered a $2,000 matching grant for our parish’s music program, in loving memory of her husband Dick Lacy on his birthday, July 27th. Dick loved music and would often say that one of his greatest regrets in life was his inability to “carry a tune”. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to grow and support our music program. To date we have received $525 in generous donations! Rectory Update - After many years of service, the stove and the refrigerator in the Rectory needed to be replaced. Only two burners on the stove were working (parts were no longer available), so the Vestry voted to replace the aging appliances. Chris and Ed Draffin have made a generous donation of $800 toward the total purchase of $1,100 for the new appliances. We kept the old refrigerator and have put it in the garage to use for events such as the Pig Roast, Norman’s Attic and Harvest Fest. We should receive a $75 rebate for purchasing energy star rated appliances and hopefully will save on our electric bill as well. Hunger doesn’t take a vacation! While doing your personal food shopping, please remember to buy extra non-perishables for the Arlington Food Shelf. A good rule of thumb is to spend 10% of your total bill on food for the food shelf. Congratulations to Laura and Josiah Weiss on the birth of their daughter, Adia Emma Weiss, born July 24th (a bit early)! Please keep them in your prayers as Adia will be in the NICU for a few weeks. Host Family Needed – PAX (Program of Academic Exchange) has asked us to announce that they are still in need of a host family for a student from Venezuela this fall. If you are interested please see the poster on the bulletin board in the Narthex, which has more information. Bottle Drive continues! The Missions Committee is still looking for donations of deposit cans and bottles. The money for returns goes toward St. James’ commitment to Camp Adventure at the Rec Park this summer. The good and nutritious lunches provided for this program go a long was toward keeping many, if not most, of the children healthier during school vacation. Please put your donations in the church garage. Thank you. Ministry of the Lawn It is that time of year for the Ministry of the Lawn to take place. This is a true ministry of hospitality to our guests and fellow parishioners as well as an excellent use of your time, talent and treasure. We have a new riding lawnmower, which should make the job easier. If you are being called to this ministry please add you name to the sign-up list in the undercroft.

On Sunday, Oct 4th, in celebrating The Feast of St. Francis, we will have our annual Blessing of the Animals at 4 PM in the Church Yard. All are welcome to come -rain or shine.
Sunday School Update and Activities
Sunday School started on September 20th. We hope to have nursery care available and the space downstairs will be reconfigured to accommodate both groups. Mary Loring has graciously agreed to be our director and keep things running smoothly. If you would like to help, please speak to Father Scott, Mary or Sue. We welcome those interested in teaching, assisting with the nursery and/or Sunday School, providing snacks or bringing any talents you might have. The reward is getting to know our children and welcoming them into our church family!Pastoral Care Givers Needed
