Youth At St. JamesSunday SchoolOur Sunday school currently enrolls an average of 5 children on a weekly basis. This past September we introduced a new and exciting curriculum call Live B.I.G. (Believe in God) which is taught by a wonderful group of parish volunteers. It offers a varying format of activities from week to week depending on the teacher's choices. including Bible Stories, art projects, music and a DVD story of the week. When asking our children what the think about this new curriculum they are very excited and tell us that they enjoy the new program. Each week the children draft a short prayer which is brought forward as an offering during the Offertory and is shared just before the Blessing and Dismissal in our Eucharist liturgy. Sunday School begins at 10 AM downstairs in our undercroft. The children join the liturgy at the Peace so all are present for the Celebration of the Eucharist. Nursery Care
Nursery Care is available in the undercroft during the 10 AM service to all children infant - kindergarten.
Family/Youth Sundays The Parish of St. James sets aside the 10 AM Holy Eucharist service on the 2nd Sunday of each month (September - May) to focus on our children and youth.
At these services the children are invited to participate more fully in our liturgy by serving as ushers, readers, intercessors and acolytes. ![]() There is an interactive Childrens' Sermon where Fr. Scott and the children have a discussion about what it means to be a Christian in today's world. ![]() The children, and anyone else who wishes, are also invited to gather around the altar during the Prayer of Consecration.
